A Note from our Regional Commissioner - June 1, 2020

June 1, 2020

Dear AYSO Parents and Guardians,

It has certainly been an interesting past few months. I am sure we can all agree on that. As summer begins the AYSO board has been working on getting plans ready for the fall already. I don’t think any of us know what the future holds for the up coming school year and sports. I am quite sure we all can agree that our first priority is to keep our kids all safe and sound. That is the priority of AYSO as we head into the fall 2020/spring 2021 sessions. With this in mind, our board has decided to handle sign ups a little different this year.

We are planning on opening registration on Monday, June 1st, however when you login to register you child will be automatically be put on a wait list. Why a wait list? Well as of right now, we are unsure what the health department recommendations or restrictions will be for fall sports. The AYSO board did not want to have everyone sign up and pay only to have potential restrictions or session cancellations. Therefore, we are opting to put everyone on the wait list for now to make it easier for you. Once we have further direction as to what the fall season will look like, you will get an email to finish the registration process.

When will we know what the fall is going to look like? We are not exactly sure but we hope to know more by sometime in July since we have to start setting up teams in early August. Please be sure to watch and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for the latest updates. We will also try and send out a mass email with information as we get it.

You may be asking, “Why do I need to sign up right now?”. In part, to save a some money but also to help the board out by understanding what our numbers will look like next year so we can start making plans. When you sign up on the wait list in the month of June, you will only be paying $80 (for U5 - U12) for registration once you are activated. If you wait until July, the rate will go up to $95. We are offering a lower rate next year to make up for not being able to play a spring session this year but also as an incentive to start the registration process early. Once we activate everyone off the wait list sometime in July, your rate will be determined by the date you started the registration process. If you sign up early and get on the wait list in June, you will still get the lower rate come July. But if you wait to sign up, the normal fee $95 fee will apply. U14 and up is the same price as last year, $50 but the board would greatly appreciate it if you register early so we can have a good understanding of how many coaches we will need and if we can filed a team at each age group.

As of now, the Fall soccer season games would start the first weekend after Labor day (September 12th, 2020). Practices would start 1-2 weeks prior to the first games, depending on our volunteer coaches schedule. This schedule is subject to change based on our local health department’s recommendations for the prevention of spreading the COVID-19 virus. If we receive further guidelines from our local health departments, we will make sure to communicate as quickly as possible.
